Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory: the race-ready motocross bike from Borgo Panigale

One year after the debut of the Desmo450 MX, Ducati presents the Factory version, designed for riders looking for a race-ready bike, already equipped with everything needed to compete. A Desmo450 MX which, thanks to its high-level racing components, is even more performant and lighter (104 kg instead of 104.8) than the standard version, even with the addition of extra parts.

With the Factory, Ducati confirms its commitment to the off-road world. A project that began with the successful development of the Italian Prestige MX1, enriched by podium finishes in the MXGP World Championship and Tony Cairoli’s historic top-10 finish in the Motocross of Nations, and which now rises to a new level with its historic debut in AMA Supercross.

The Desmo450 MX Factory is equipped with a complete Akrapovič titanium exhaust system with dedicated engine mapping, which reduces weight (-1.7 kg), improves power delivery and offers a fuller and more sustained torque curve. The Showa suspension with Dark Kashima coating on the fork legs and shock absorber body, and TiO superfinishing on the stems and rod, offers improved smoothness and resistance to wear and chipping.

The billet Factory triple clamps further reduce weight by almost 200 grams. The skid plate and front disc guard protect against mud and stones, and the O-ring RK MXU chain, the same used on factory bikes, offers improved durability and reliability.

The holeshot device, available as standard on the Factory, compresses the front fork when starting, increasing stability and acceleration when exiting the gate. The WiFi module allows the rider to customize the Riding Modes through the X-Link app, defining all parameters – throttle map, launch control, engine brake and Ducati Traction Control.

Finally, the Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory is even more beautiful and evocative thanks to the special Ducati Corse livery, which recalls that of the official bikes taking part in the MXGP World Championship.

Single-cylinder engine with Desmodromic valve timing

The Desmo450 MX Factory engine features Desmodromic valve timing, the system used on all Ducati racing bikes, including the MotoGP Desmosedici. This feature offers several advantages to the Desmo450, first and foremost the ability to run the engine at very high revs, thus offering greater over-rev capabilities and reducing the number of gear changes required over the course of a lap. Moreover, this increases the chances of getting off the line faster than rivals at the gate and winning the holeshot, the coveted prize that goes to the first rider who exits the first corner.

The Desmo450 MX Factory also offers a very sustained torque curve at low revs, ensuring great acceleration out of corners, with linear power delivery and acceleration unknown in this category. This unique power delivery curve, which provides the rider with 70% of maximum torque from just 4,200 rpm, makes the Desmo450 MX less demanding and tiring than a traditional 450, to the benefit of track performance and riding enjoyment. This has been made possible by the Desmodromic distribution system, which reduces the energy required to open the valves, allowing for more aggressive lift diagrams even when choosing large valve diameters.

The maximum power output of the Desmo450 engine is 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm, and maximum torque is 53.5 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The rev limiter is set at 11,900 rpm, the benchmark for the category. Compared to the standard version, the addition of the Akrapovič titanium exhaust, with dedicated engine calibration, delivers a more sustained torque curve between 4,000 and 7,500 rpm and greater power in the acceleration phase.

Chassis

The frame of the Desmo450 MX Factory is built on the same aluminum perimeter as the MX version. This configuration was chosen to create a lightweight structure that would allow the engine to have the straightest possible intake and exhaust ducts, thus ensuring maximum performance. The engineers at Borgo Panigale have succeeded in designing a frame weighing 8.95 kg, reducing the number of welds and achieving the objectives of lightness, reliability and rigidity. The frame plays a key role in containing the weight of the bike, which, thanks also to the high-quality components that characterise the Desmo450 MX Factory, is 104 kg ready to use but without fuel.

The extremely compact frame design has also been studied to ensure the best ergonomics for the rider and, at the same time, quick and easy maintenance in the workshop or at the track, where operations such as shock absorber removal can be carried out quickly. The shock absorber is mounted in a central position and works on a cast aluminum swingarm and a lever with forged aluminum links.

The Desmo450 Factory suspension was developed with Showa to improve performance and reliability for racing use. The surface hardness of the fork legs and shock absorber rod is increased by 60% thanks to titanium oxide treatment and superfinishing, thus improving resistance to wear and chipping from gravel. The Dark Kashima treatment on the fork sliders and shock absorber body increases smoothness, improving the ability to copy bumps and therefore increasing rider confidence. The fork is fully adjustable, with 49 mm upside-down stanchions and 310 mm of travel. The shock absorber is fully adjustable, with 301 mm of wheel travel.

The billet triple clamps, made of Ergal and anodised in black, save almost 200 grams in weight. Finally, to bring the look of the Desmo450 Factory closer to that of the official bike, the front axle bracket is also anodised in black.

As for the braking system, Ducati has chosen its long-standing partner Brembo. At the front there is a floating two-piston caliper, while at the rear there is a single-piston caliper. The Galfer brake discs are 260 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear.

Electronics

The experience in MotoGP and Superbike, where Ducati is a technological benchmark, has allowed the engineers at Borgo Panigale to introduce a genuine traction control system on the Desmo450 MX, offering benefits in terms of lap times, rider safety and energy savings when riding. Unlike the systems currently available in the segment, the Ducati Traction Control (DTC) implemented on the Desmo450 MX calibrates power cut-off according to the actual slippage of the rear wheel, thus ensuring effectiveness, responsiveness and linearity of intervention. This system is able to identify when it should not come into action, such as during jumps, and automatically disengages itself. Furthermore, if the rider identifies points on the track where he wants to be able to take advantage of the full performance of the engine, he can deactivate the system with a slight pressure on the clutch lever. The control will automatically re-engage a few moments later. Ducati Traction Control offers four different levels of intervention.

The electronic equipment also includes Launch Control and Engine Brake Control, which, like DTC, can be configured at different levels of intervention and associated with two Riding Modes that the rider can adapt to their needs and the characteristics of the track through the X-Link App, thanks to the WiFi module fitted as standard on the Factory. The gearbox is equipped with a Quickshifter.

Maintenance Intervals

The maintenance intervals have been strategically developed to reduce costs for the customer. Piston replacement is set at 45 hours, together with the valve clearance check, while the total engine overhaul is set at 90 hours, benchmark values ​​for the segment.

Accessories

Ducati Performance offers a wide range of accessories to create a replica of the Ducati Desmo450 MX competing in the MXGP World Championship. All the details of the works 450 MX are available to enthusiasts, with the sole exception of the official Showa suspension, which cannot be purchased by private riders. The special parts include high-performance rims with reinforced spokes and hubs machined from solid blocks, a racing seat and Brembo Racing brake calipers.

Finally, to complete the Factory look, Ducati Performance offers an entire technical collection created in collaboration with Drudi Performance. The selection includes a full Alpinestars set consisting of a jersey, pants, gloves, and boots, along with an Arai helmet, wind vest, softshell, and Spidi rain jacket.

Availability

The Desmo450 MX Factory is already available, in the Ducati Corse 2025 livery, in the European dealers selected within the Ducati network, in order to provide the maximum expertise and support in the offroad segment. The bike will arrive within January, 2026, in North America and, following, in the rest of the world.

Harley-Davidson today revealed on H-D.com 13 new models joining its 2026 motorcycle portfolio, and debuted the “Model Year 2026 Reveal – Chapter Two – January 14th” new-product launch video on its YouTube channel.

New models announced today include the Street Glide® Limited and Road Glide® Limited motorcycles offering a dramatic evolution of the Harley-Davidson® Grand American Touring platform. The new Street Glide® 3 Limited and Road Glide® 3 models elevate to a new level the style, performance and comfort of three-wheel motorcycling. The versatile Pan America® 1250 Limited is a new expedition-ready Adventure Touring motorcycle. Three Enthusiast Collection – Liberty Edition models celebrate with exclusive paint and graphics the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. NEW Milwaukee-Eight® VVT 117 Powertrain

With more displacement, enhanced intake and exhaust flow, and variable valve timing (VVT) the Milwaukee-Eight® VVT 117 engine offers 7.4% more torque and 14.0% more horsepower than the Twin Cooled™ Milwaukee-Eight® 114 powertrain in 2024 Grand American Touring models.

• Variable Valve Timing (VVT) broadens the overall powerband and improves city/highway average fuel efficiency by 2 percent to 3 percent compared to the same engine with fixed valve timing. The rider will feel improved low-end performance, ideal for passing, accelerating into traffic and climbing long mountain pass roads when laden with a passenger and gear.
• Cylinder head cooling system enhances engine cooling efficiency compared to the Milwaukee-Eight® 114 powertrain, especially in low-speed riding situations and hot weather.
• The charging system produces current capability at both idle and cruising speeds to support touring vehicle content and popular accessories while maintaining optimal battery health. Charging output is 58 peak amps, a 21 percent increase in charging power compared to 2024 models with the Milwaukee-Eight® 114 powertrain.

Suspension
Suspension components are designed to promote rider confidence and provide a dramatic improvement in rider comfort compared to 2024 Ultra Limited® and Road Glide® Limited models.

• Rear suspension features SHOWA® dual outboard emulsion technology shock absorbers, replacing previous rear suspension that used emulsion technology on one of two shocks. This provides improved damping response and a more predictable ride.
  • Travel is 3.0 inches (76 mm).
  • Rear suspension features a remote hydraulic pre-load adjuster knob located on the left side of the motorcycle forward of the saddlebag. Adjustments can easily be made to rear suspension preload without tools or removal of the saddlebag to accommodate up to an additional 100 pounds of cargo loading or short-term passenger adjustments beyond the primary suspension loading condition.
  • Pre-load adjustment for the primary loading condition (the condition that the vehicle will most often be used in, for example rider only or rider plus passenger) is accomplished by removing the right saddlebag and adjusting the threaded preload adjuster with the provided spanner tool.
• Front suspension is internally tuned to balance ride and performance with the rear suspension.

Aero Comfort
The Street Glide® Limited and Road Glide® Limited model fairing, fairing lowers and air deflectors are elements of a system developed with wind tunnel testing to deliver outstanding aero comfort for the rider.

• Fairing lowers are designed to add wind and weather protection around the leg area.
• Integrated venting is designed to fine-tune airflow by using a small lever the rider can adjust.
• The adjustable fairing center vent offers the rider the opportunity to fine-tune airflow for ideal comfort based on rider stature, riding gear choice and prevailing conditions.
• Adjustable air deflectors are designed to deflect turbulent air away from the rider and passenger. The deflectors may be adjusted for desired airflow, and when stowed permit more air to flow to the rider’s torso for optimized comfort in warm conditions.
• Mid-Frame Air Deflectors below the seat direct engine heat away from the rider to further optimize comfort on hot summer rides.

Ergonomic Comfort
Extensive ergonomic modeling was employed to develop a rider and passenger environment focused on long-range comfort.

The cylinder head cooling system enhances engine cooling efficiency, especially in low-speed riding situations and hot weather. Cylinder heads incorporate channels for coolant flow around the exhaust valve areas. An electric pump circulates coolant through the system to a heat exchanger backed by a thermostatically controlled fan located low on the front of the frame. The air flow from the fan is directed below the motorcycle for enhanced comfort, especially at low vehicle speeds.

Inspired by the Harley-Davidson® x Dynojet Factory Race Team bikes competing for the MotoAmerica® Mission® King of the Baggers™ championship, CVO Road Glide ST model combines high-performance components with a CVO attention to custom detail to create a bagger that’s quick, fast and sophisticated. The “sharknose” Road Glide fairing leads with menace and offers outstanding aerodynamic performance. The performance of the potent Milwaukee-Eight® 121 HO engine is complemented by fully adjustable SHOWA® suspension components and top-shelf Brembo® brakes. A host of light-weight components shave off pounds to enhance every aspect of performance and handling. Harley-Davidson® Skyline™ OS technology, thrilling Harley-Davidson® Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate® Stage II audio and stunning CVO paint and graphics complete this factory custom/performance bagger. CVO Road Glide ST is the fastest motorcycle produced by Harley-Davidson for 2026.

NEW Color Options

• Citrus Heat Re-Entry features an orange to black fade inspired by the current Harley-Davidson x Dynojet Factory Race Team racing livery as seen in the Mission King of the Baggers series. An Orange Pearl topcoat is applied over the Blood Orange basecoat prior to the Raven Metallic fade. The graphics are a combination of race checkers and segmented pinstripes to further enhance the performance ethos of the scheme. The checkered stripes are masked off prior to the pearl coat to reveal the orange base color underneath. The scheme is completed with orange and silver pinstripes.
• Inferno Gray initially appears as a dark solid neutral color but red effects begin to appear in the highlights as the light hits the painted surfaces. This color generates interest that pulls the viewer around the motorcycle to see how it shifts in color, almost like fiery lava oozing from the ground. The red in the paint ties to red accents on the powertrain and elsewhere on the motorcycle. A new over-sized Bar & Shield “super graphic” emerges on the sides of the upper and lower fairing and fuel tank.
• Electric Coast features an Electric Coast Blue metallic basecoat.  An eagle graphic inspired by Harley-Davidson x Dynojet Factory Race Team racing livery flows from each fairing side to the fuel tank. Performance Red ST accents are featured on the powertrain, seat cover, wheels and windscreen.

• Road Glide® Model Fairing is designed to offer the rider exceptional aero comfort and dynamic style.
  • The fairing is mounted directly to the motorcycle frame, making it independent of the steering and front suspension. This significantly reduces steering effort in tight maneuvers at low speed, compared with a fork-mounted fairing, because the rider does not have to support the weight of the fairing through the handlebar.
  • The inner fairing incorporates a 12.3-inch color touchscreen display, two audio speakers and left- and right-side media storage compartments. The right compartment is equipped with a USB-C connection point.
  • NEW Red Tinted Windshield adds performance style and reinforces Performance Red trim details.

• Moto Handlebar and 6-inch Riser put the rider in a more commanding, upright position. The handlebar riser is 2.2 inches taller than the standard Road Glide model riser. The Moto Bar handlebar has a much flatter bend than the standard Road Glide model handlebar – a shape is inspired by the handlebar seen on flat track racing motorcycles – and is a popular “club bike” style point. • Low Final Drive Ratio (30/68 sprockets vs. standard 32/68 sprockets) to produce the kind of rapid acceleration and mid-range thrust aggressive bagger riders crave.
• Screamin’ Eagle® Extreme Flow Titanium Slip-On Mufflers feature oval-shaped lightweight titanium shells and forged carbon fiber end caps. The high-flow design unlocks engine performance while maintaining noise and emissions compliance. Exhaust tone and level are enhanced to produce an exhilarating sound, especially on acceleration.
• Weight Reduction achieved through use of alternate materials contributes to improved fuel economy, braking performance, and acceleration.
  • Mufflers have lightweight titanium shells and forged carbon fiber end caps.

• Performance Suspension is fully adjustable for pre-load and rebound/compression damping to allow the rider to set up the suspension for a personal preference in handling performance and ride comfort.
  • Rear Suspension features dual outboard SHOWA® Remote Reservoir shock absorbers with remote reservoirs located between the rear fender and each saddlebag to keep the shock oil and gas separated to maintain shock performance under demanding conditions. Rear suspension travel is 3 inches (76 mm).
  • NEW Braided Stainless Steel lines to the rear shock reservoirs have a light smoke outer tube to match the brake lines.
  • Front Suspensionfeatures inverted 47 mm SHOWA® 1×1 forks with SHOWA® Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating treatment which improves durability and reduces friction. Front suspension travel is 4.6 inches (117 mm).
• Premium Brembo® braking components provide outstanding braking feel and performance for added rider confidence. Dual front disc brakes with radially mounted four-piston Brembo® calipers grip Performance Dual Floating 320 mm rotors.
• Solo Seat is shaped to hold the rider in a comfortable yet secure position during aggressive riding.
  • The solo seat, hard-shell rear cowl and lack of passenger pegs reduce motorcycle weight.
  • A raised rear bolster helps hold the rider in position.
  • The seat shape and padding materials are designed for long-range comfort for most riders. The seat is shaped to rotate the rider’s hips to a neutral position relative to the spine. This helps reduce the effort required to maintain a comfortable riding posture, which can help reduce fatigue on rider back and neck.
  • Seat details include luxurious Alcantara EXO fabric, Performance Red details, geometric grained vinyl and a rubberized CVO ST logo on the top of the seat.

• Carbon Fiber Components

The front fender, the tank console, exhaust end caps and the seat cowl are formed of forged carbon fiber, a light-weight material which also adds competition style.

• These components are clear finished to put the forged carbon fiber material on display.
• The carbon fibers have a random appearance unique to each motorcycle, very different from the look of woven mat usually associated with carbon fiber components. Rather than being “laid up” in resin these parts are formed under pressure.
• Flat-Out Bar provides limited cosmetic vehicle protection to the front of the motorcycle in a low-speed tip-over event.
• Wind Splitter windshield with a red tint for the perfect combination of effective airflow management and wow styling.

• Eight Selectable Ride Modes include Road, Rain, Sport, Track, Track Plus, and three Custom modes.
• Track Mode is intended specifically for “track day” riding on a dry track/closed course. This mode was developed with input from Harley-Davidson® x Dynojet Factory Race Team racer Kyle Wyman with the desired throttle mapping for best feel of torque delivery in a racetrack environment. This gives the rider smooth, repeatable throttle response on corner exits. Full power performance is on tap. Rear-to-front electronically linked braking is disabled to allow independent rear trail braking capability and consistent front lever feel. C-ABS and C-TCS intervention are set to a reduced level of intervention to allow greater rider control.
• Track Plus Mode is intended for experienced riders on a dry track/closed course who want maximum control but still appreciate the benefits of Rider Safety Enhancements working in the background. In addition to the specially tuned power delivery of Track Mode, Track Plus Mode disables electronically linked braking entirely, giving full independent control of both brakes to the rider. The C-ABS setting has an even further reduced level of intervention which permits a significantly higher level of rear wheel slip under braking or aggressive downshifts to further enhance rider control in a track setting. The C-TCS intervention is set to its lowest level to maximize both straight line and cornering acceleration and put control in the rider’s throttle hand.
• All-LED Lighting is designed to deliver style, outstanding performance, and to enhance conspicuity to other motorists.
• High-Performance Audio features a Harley-Davidson® Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate® Stage II system with Harley-Davidson® Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate® Stage II 3-way, 6.5″ fairing speakers, 150 watts RMS power handling per speaker.
