Southwick National Motocross Photos

I had the opportunity to shoot the AMA National Motocross last weekend in Southwick, MA. This track is my favorite on the circuit and this weekend was another great event.

As always the images are in alphabetical order by the riders “last name” with all holeshot pictures labeled as “start” and several “track” photos of the tower and signs, including a couple of the final checkered flag of the weekend.

All images on Lukaitis Photo are keyworded by the last name of the rider and have been since we began in 2005. By searching the site, you will be able to find all images ever taken under that keyword.

Images are available for use in editorial or commercial use. They are not available for print purchase. Please contact me with any questions.

I had the chance to shoot the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross National at the famed Unadilla Valley Sports Center on Saturday. Despite difficult conditions with wind and rain, I was able to capture more than 600 images. They are posted online at Lukaitis Photo and available for editorial or advertising use. Please use the contact form on the site to let me know if you are interested in something.

As always all of the images are labeled by the riders last name and presented in alphabetical order.

Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Nationals Wrap-Up – Glen Helen

Round 2 of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Nationals took place this weekend at the famous Glen Helen raceway in San Bernardino, CA. Big hills, big crashes and a surprising turn of events made for another interesting day of racing.

Once again I wasn’t there. I saw most of the first motos online at www.promotocross and then tuned in on NBCSN for the second moto.

Here are the results.

450MX

  • Ryan Dungey (1-2) First Overall – Red Bull KTM
  • Ken Roczen (4-1) Second Overall – RCH/Jimmie Johns/ Soaring Eagle Suzuki
  • Eli Tomac (3-3) Third Overall – Monster Energy Kawasaki

My prediction going in was Roczen, Dungey and Jason Anderson, 1-2-3. Well, if not for a small part malfunction on Roczen’s RCH Suzuki I would have been close. The airfork failure of Roczen took the first moto win away from him. He bravely held on the last couple of laps, jumping only the small jumps, to salvage a 4th place finish and the points lead. Roczen, rebounded to win the second moto. I was off by 1 place with Anderson as the 2-5 motos netted Anderson the 4th overall spot. Trey Canard rounded out the top 5.

250MX

  • Alex Martin (2-2) First Overall
  • Jeremy Martin (4-1) Second Overall
  • Cooper Webb (1-4) Third Overall

The 250 class will prove to be very exciting all year long. After a dominant performance just a week ago at Hangtown, Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy could only salvage a 9-7 for 7th overall. He went from having a 15 point lead to a 3 point deficit and 3rd place in the standings. My prediction of Martin, Savatgy and Webb was off. Alex, not Jeremy, Martin won the overall, and get this he’s now the points leader. On the podium he was joined by his brother Jeremy Martin and teammate Cooper Webb rounded out the top 3. A Star Racing Yamaha sweep made Bobby Reagan very happy. His guys filled 4 of the top 5  at Glen Helen and in the series points standings as well. Great job to the entire team.

Here are a couple of things I took away from the race.

Glen Helen is gnarly. Just ask Anthony Rodriguez and check out this crazy video of his bike cartwheeling down the hill.

Gared Steinke is crazy. Out there on a Husqvarna 125 hucking the big jumps. Vurb Moto Video

The racing so far this year has been great and I look forward to seeing what happens at Colorado this weekend.
